Since Donald Trumps presidential win, millions of people are scared, compounded by potentially related racist and anti-Semitic abuse and vandalism happening across the country.
This is not unlike the unrest that followed the Brexit vote that rocked much of the United Kingdom in June, at which time the idea came about to wear safety pins to signal support for people who felt threatened.
Now it’s being used in the U.S. in a similar way as a sign to everybody that the wearer is a “safe place” for anyone who might feel threatened after the election.
But this is America, so people are looking to take advantage of the safety pin trend to make some bank including Vogue, whoposted a tone-deaf fashion spread explaining the political statement on their website.
They then went on to show you how you can support each other and apparently, the economy by purchasing ridiculously expensive clothes that capitalize on the safety pin trend.
How about this black sweatshirt, for the small sum of a mere $569?
