What Did you say? “96 million google business searches per day“ – Thats what I said!

Actually Google now handles MORE THAN several billion queries per day. This is only set to grow more and more each second as it opens more data centres across the world. The pictures of these ” nuclear type” protected bunkers of cyberspace remind me of the “supercomputer” HAL from the film 2001 a space Odyssey. Somehow I don’t think its going to be too far in the future when we see these computers merge into the “Brain” for good or for evil. Knowing man’s selfish desires and lust for the power trip I am sure we need to be on guard that we don’t rely on these computers too much to control things. Sadly it seems nobody is really listening to the safety protocol “shouts” I see in the media.

On a more positive note a new search engine is not quite there at 96 million google business searches per day, but a million per day is certainly a very healthy start for a few weeks-old search engine aiming to be the number three in search. Enter stage left please for…. Blekko. Blekko needs to hang on to those users if they actually like the service, something which will be more apparent from stats a few weeks or months out. Maybe their launch received a lot of media attention, which can of course drive short term spikes in traffic. Whatever the future Blekko must be pleased with its “dent” against the 96 million google business searches per day!

Improve Your Focus!

You can only succeed if you focus your energies on things that help you make forward progress. Things that help you realize your goals.

If you find yourself running “this way and that,” you must make a change.

Here are some tips…

Reduce (or cut out altogether) the amount of time you spend doing things that are not beneficial to your goals/plan. Things like playing online games, reading 22 promotional emails per day on the “latest and greatest,” etc.

Stop buying any marketing products that don’t fit into your action plan. If you are focusing on the creation of Info Products, stop buying products on how to make quick cash flipping websites, etc.

Schedule work times. Find an hour or two each day and devote your full attention to your business and goals. Let everyone around you know that you need some quiet time, and that you will pay attention to them after your work is done.

Turn off email, Skype and anything else that might distract you while you work.

Work in focused blocks of times. Multi-tasking is required for some careers (like that of a chef) but most of the time, multi-tasking is bad! You will generally make faster progress if you focus all of your energies on one specific task. The trouble is, this can be mentally exhausting. So, it is best to work in blocks of between 30-60 minutes. Take a break between blocks to clear your head (a short walk is really good as it will give you some exercise and improve your blood flow)

This is Great News for the Evolution of the web search giant this is Google.

Just read this off their official blog and so I am re-posting it for you to read. Its going to change a lot of things this year.

“So why did we build a new search indexing system? Content on the web is blossoming. It’s growing not just in size and numbers but with the advent of video, images, news and real-time updates, the average webpage is richer and more complex. In addition, people’s expectations for search are higher than they used to be. Searchers want to find the latest relevant content and publishers expect to be found the instant they publish.

To keep up with the evolution of the web and to meet rising user expectations, we’ve built Caffeine. The image below illustrates how our old indexing system worked compared to Caffeine:

Our old index had several layers, some of which were refreshed at a faster rate than others; the main layer would update every couple of weeks. To refresh a layer of the old index, we would analyze the entire web, which meant there was a significant delay between when we found a page and made it available to you.

With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions and update our search index on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index. That means you can find fresher information than ever before—no matter when or where it was published.

Caffeine lets us index web pages on an enormous scale. In fact, every second Caffeine processes hundreds of thousands of pages in parallel. If this were a pile of paper it would grow three miles taller every second. Caffeine takes up nearly 100 million gigabytes of storage in one database and adds new information at a rate of hundreds of thousands of gigabytes per day. You would need 625,000 of the largest iPods to store that much information; if these were stacked end-to-end they would go for more than 40 miles.

We’ve built Caffeine with the future in mind. Not only is it fresher, it’s a robust foundation that makes it possible for us to build an even faster and comprehensive search engine that scales with the growth of information online, and delivers even more relevant search results to you. So stay tuned, and look for more improvements in the months to come.”

Please comment on how you think this might change your business as we are all in some way partners in this!

So many people complain about Google’s tough rules, but I say…”keep it simple” & you will benefit from the rewards. I NEVER get below a QS of 7 on my camps and a CTR of 5% on my worst keys. (throw and Stick method) – Simple Guidelines from the Boss…

Organise your campaign by theme.
In each campaign, create separate ad groups for each of your products, brands or types of services you offer. Each ad group can then have a highly related set of keywords and ads that match the specific theme. By doing this, your ads can highlight exactly what a customer is searching for.

Choose your keywords carefully
Use specific keywords that directly relate to the theme of your ad group and landing page. Keywords that are too broad can lower your performance by generating many ad impressions but few clicks. One-word keywords are likely to be too generic, so try using two- or three-word phrases. Use the Keyword Tool to generate keyword ideas.

Include keywords in your ad text
Include your keywords in your ad text (especially the title) to show users that your ad relates to their search. If your ad shows when a user searches on a keyword in your ad group, the keyword will appear in bold in your ad text.

Use the right destination URL
Make sure that the Destination URL (landing page) you use for each ad is the most relevant page within your website – ideally, a page dedicated to the specific product or service that’s highlighted in your ad.

Track your success
To make informed decisions about how to optimise your campaigns, review your campaign statistics. To measure your success, use conversion tracking to see which ads and keywords bring the most to your business.

Give the searcher what they want, satisfy their need and the reaping of the sowing will surprise you.

OK so the silly season is nearly here again where the western world goes a little mad with their spending habits. What does this mean for the Affiliate Traffic Broker? Well take a look at a report I grabbed off a Yahoo Search marketing course….

Can you see it yet? And this was 3 years ago! You can easily increase these figures by +10%, even if we are still in a recession. You see each year more people go online, more begin to trust the online retail shopping sites, more money per person is going to be spent online, than in the real world!

What will I be doing? Well I tackle most things at multiple levels and angles so I will be building many “One Keyword” HQ mini websites, Increasing my Adwords, MSN & Yahoo campaigns, Increasing my Amazon product portfolio (both UK and US), Increasing my media buys and reaching out to the 2nd tier search engine platforms to expand & develope new marketplaces…Phew! Yep its hard work and currently I am putting in 60+ hrs of work a week…BUT just like last year it will be worth it!

The Question is, what will you be doing?
